The Last King of Scotland starring Forest Whitaker is an aspiring actor’s guide on how to survive in the industry via true talent! Whitaker’s performance was flawless. His accent—ridiculously realistic. Moreover, his connection to the character, Ugandan President Idi Amin, reflected an understanding that transcends basic motivation and historical understanding. Go and get it!

Notes on a Scandal was provocative, dramatic and full of tension—the formula for a universally powerful film. Judi Dench acted her dentures off in this flick and Cate Blanchett was no stranger to showing her acting prowress. Centering around a Mary Kay Letourneau-esque type of drama, with the focus on a scandal developing between a teacher (Blanchett) and one of her young male students, Dench spins a powerful web of mystery, confusion and control over every individual that crosses her path. Her desires to have Blanchett’s character (Sheba) as more than a friend make her come off as desperately scary! We love! Go and get it!
