April 10, 2007 American Idol Camp?!?
What are your kids doing this summer? Well, if they want to badly enough, they can go to a 10-day camp for American Idol wannabes. The makers of the show that America can’t seem to get enough of have come up with a new way of promoting their program—and a new way of making some quick cash. If the kid (or the kid’s family) has the $2900 to shell out for the ten-day affair, it can be spent on Idol “boot camp” in Massachusetts. All they need to have are past inspirations, future aspirations, and a love of the performing arts. Apparently, talent is not a requirement. Some 700 lucky potential Idol contestants will get in and be one step closer to their dreams. They won’t get Paula, Randy, or Simon to give them any pointers, but they will get instruction from past Idol participants.
