Love Muffins, I know it’s been a lot of Beyoncé this week but her s#!t is leaking like a broken faucet. Forgive me for partaking in the Beyoncé Overload. Here’s the video for “Greenlight” that has just surfaced. I like how the video plays off Robert Palmer’s video for “Simply Irresistable”. And don’t even get me started on those shoes…

okay, so i love beyonce and all but did this bitch have any budget whatsoever? Even if Columbia said ‘no’, you’d think she’s at least got enough personal cash - or Jay has - to make a video with something other than a different outfit in it.

Both freakum dress and Greenlight are boring videos. Usually artist who have run out of creative ideas take time off too revamp their persona. Beyonce needs to do the same.

Beyonce is amazing, these videos were all hot. If anyone has anything bad to say they are just hating cuz she is the hardest working woman in showbusiness right now. I loved all the videos and everything was outstanding. From the cloths, to the shoes, makeup, weaves. FIERCE.

Soooo get me bodied isnt original? Flaws and All wasnt original? what the hell you haters talkin about have seen all the videos well i have and beyonce has taken shit to a whole nother level with the creativity now im not a huge fan of greenlight but the shit is hot and so is freakum dress the sounds go great with the song. But get me bodied is incredible and flaws & all shows beyonces real side that she can be funny and be herself it was plain black and white but probably one of the best videos shes ever done because shes not doin anything but being herself without makeup with out dancers or a set its just her. And the videos were leaked to the people thats keep sayin she putting new videos out no dumbasses people are leakin them cause they thirsty just like half the internet over what ever this chick does and thats not her fault that her stuff got leaked. No other female singer out is doin it like beyonce and trust me all this is planned shes doin this for a reason and after the tour and this year she will go on a long hiatus and people will be missing her cause the internet and the general public aint went bananas over something in music like this in a long ass time. And wheter you love her or hater her you gotta respect this chick she loves her fans and theres no rule that u only have to release certain songs or a number amount of singles off of an album beyonce loves her music and wanted to do something for the fans so she put up her own money and shot all these videos her damn self no other artist out there loves their fans enough to do that shit period she acrifices alot and gives her all in performances and my ass will be front row when she come to my city so haters keep hating cause like bey said what you think they all mad at me fo lol

If ya’ll are gonna get upset about other peoples opinions on things then i suggest you don’t read gossip sites. Anyhow, I digress.

My point is that Beyonce has serious lighting issues with her videos. Deja Vu and Irreplacable were beyond and above the level, however Ring The Alarm was a classic example of using cheap lighting and cheap set. It’s not a criticsm on Beyonces character nor her music so lower your blood pressure, but it’s a matter of lookin at it from the point that this is Beyonce - as I stated above, I love the girl, her vocals are amazing, shes incredibly beautiful and so she should be having the best of the best on every level. To have a cheap set is one thing but cheap lighting and production is quite another.

To say ‘Beyonce has taken the shit to a whole ‘nother level’ is a gross over-exaggeration. They may be entertaining videos, irrelivant of the production budget, but she’s done nothing remotley original, be it conceptually or artistically, in any of them.

At the end of the day, say one of them had been the video to ‘Deja Vu’ then another of them was the video to ‘Ring The Alarm’ then another ‘Irreplaceable’. Would anyone be impressed? No. Why? Because theyre too consistant in the fact that they lack substance, they lack originality, they lack anything Beyonce is worthy of.
If it wasnt for the fact that Beyonce looks amazing in all of them (which is a hair and make up issue - not an artistic one and therefore not a valid point really for saying a video is good) then there’d be nothing of the videos. They’d be even more pointless than they already are.

Furthermore, trust me, the videos have been leaked by the record company. It’s a consistant ploy of theirs in recent years as the internet is now not only the cheapest option, but also the biggest outlet in the fact that one thing has teh potential to reach millions worldwide, especially if theyre of Beyonces stature. Record companies often pre-’leak’ stuff not only to get it out there to the people but also to gage a public reaction of the work. That way not only is it cheaper as I mentioned above, but it’s much easier to fall back on something else if all goes wrong i.e ‘ oh thats not the finished song/oh thats the working video’ etc etc. This has been proved a few times.

Tish, thankyou for highlighting the fact that Beyonce PAID FOR THESE HERSELF. I was previously unaware of this but now I am, it proves a point.
Making music videos is hugely expensive. The above were not. Thats fair enough if youre gonna do one….it woulda been majorly cute if she’d have done one really simple video, yaknow, dresses,plain background,pretty make-up, but she hasnt, theyre consistently like that and so it takes away the effect.
Further, yes other artists have done that before (using their own money to make videos purely for fan enjoyment). An example is Mariah Carey, among others.
But these videos arent purely for fan enjoyment. The record company is re-releasing B-Day and so needs promo for it otherwise it’s not gonna make any cash (after it didnt do spectacuarly stellar in the first place). They are marketing tools, not Beyonce ‘giving back’ and so that raises the stakes even further in terms or concept/design/originality/budget/artistic merit. IF they were doing this for no money, for ‘the fans enjoyment’ then it’d be pushed out independantley.

At the end of the day people it’s about being realistic and honest about shit in life or what’s the point??? Yeah, I can enjoy something but it doesn’t mean it’s good. Yeah Beyonce is an amazing artist, but it doesn’t mean she nor her work is faultless and part of enjoying something, and art in general, is taking from it, evaluating it, making your own conclusions and being open to what others interpretations of it. By doing that someone isn’t a hater. The hater is the one who gives someone shit for their thoughts.

Oh and finally, Melissa, since I saw them i’ve not watched them again, but how, pray tell, do you suggest I watch and gain an opinion of them if I don’t see them in the first place?

The “Suga Mama” video reminds me of Mya’s “My Love Is Like Wo”. “Green Light” reminds me of Amerie’s “One Thing” video.

I gotta give it to her..she definatley is one of the hardest working broads in the business. You gotta admire her work ethic if nothing else. The videos were cool. I especially liked Green Light. I thought that was the most underated song on the new album.
With that said I do have to take issue with the Sugamama video..so much ripping off going on.
The mechanical bull..Madonna did that years ago on the “Drowned World Tour”..and her lying on the floor in that huge flourescent circle..Kylie Minouge did that on a European MTV Awards performance.

I agree that she needs to take a break for awhile and revamp herself. I was really excited about her new album coming out, until I heard it. She said she made it in two weeks, and it sounds like she made it in two weeks. Then when she said she would do the video album, I was like maybe the new songs will be better…No! definitely weren’t. Most of the songs and videos are not good, and not up to par with what I would expect from her. If she likes it then that’s great I want people to be happy with what they do, but I am not feeling this B’day album (neither one of them). And just because someone does not like something does not make them a hater, it just means it does not appeal to them.

I love a talented artist like Beyonce but I think she does too damn much sometimes! She’s one of the most captivating performers of all time but these videos disappointed me a bit because some of the dances looked kinda high schoolish. My favorites are Flaws and All and Irreplaceable because she’s not trying too hard to be sexy and beautiful, she’s a natural. The other videos look trashy and cheap to me, which is weird because she portrays the classy look in photos and in interviews. I love me some Beyonce but I can’t wait to see her grow up a little with her dances and performances.
