March 29, 2007 New Music: Rihanna, Maroon 5, Beyoncé
Rihanna seems to be cranking out the albums at a feverish pace. Today her new single “Umbrella” just premiered it features a brief verse from her record label boss Jay-Z. The song will be the first single for her new album Good Girl Gone Bad, which hits stores on June 5th. I like Rihanna but the song bored me to death. It was the longest four minutes of my life.

Maroon 5 debuted their video for “Makes Me Wonder” today on TRL. The more I hear the song the more I love it. I really like their new sound, the chorus is catchy as hell, and Adam Levine looks really sexy in the video

you know… this Beyonce video kinda reminds me of Christina’s video with all of the girls in the retro attire, the way the shots jump cut in and out too. Originality please.

MAROON 5: your rock card has been revoked! you are now officially boy band bitches! this song sounds like Adam Levine wrote it with Jessica Simpson. Now, I’m not hating… b/c I actually like the song, but hey, I also own “the Backstreet Boys Greatest Hits”, so that is not saying much. I hope the rest of the album hits harder.
ps – putting the word f*ck in your song doesn’t make it NON-POP or a ROCK Anthem. Try again.

I agree with C Period. I personally expected better dresses for this type of song! In fact, I expected a better video. I mean, it’s ok, but expected more from Beyonce, and I am an avid fan of her songs! Disappointing.

YES, YES, YES! Beyonce served me for this video. The kids already knew this was a track written for them to fall out to and I LOVE how she had the fierce gay boyz in the beginning and (did you catch) the lesbian chick from America’s Next Top Model serving you bald fierceness. Beyonce peed for this one!!!!

Rihanna looks so pretty! And I luv the Maroon 5 song I hear it on the radio and with out them even saying who the song was by I knew it was Maroon 5, Adam has such a unique voice. And the video makes Adam look HOTTTT!!!

Rihanna is beautiful and I like some of her songs BUT…I can’t help but shake the feeling that she is the female Akon. Catchy songs, but can’t sing very well.
