March 15, 2007 Max Factor Charity Fashion Show!
Last night was the star studded Max Factor fashion show at Social Hollywood in Los Angeles. The event was put on to raise money for Jane Kaczmarek’s (the mom from Malcolm in the Middle) charity, Clothes Off Our Backs. Carmen Electra hosted the event, and she looked great. All in all, the event was very classy, except for ONE KEY MOMENT IN THE MIDDLE.
Of course there were many celebrities and fashion designers in the audience and on stage. Louis Verdad, Richard Tyler, Kevan Hall and Jeffrey Sebelia from Project Runway were just four of the thirteen LA based designers watching the models go by. Those modeling the designs included Carmen Electra, Denise Richards, Alison Sweeney, Kristin Cavalleri, Kristen Bell, Autumn Reeser, Beau Garrett, Noreen DuWulf and several others. Ken Paves, Pat McGrath and Nicole Chavez are the ones credited for their hair, makeup and styling respectively.
For the most part, the women looked beautiful, but their walks were lacking! Only a couple of them were able to really handle the stage, which I completely understand—most of them are clearly actresses, not models. I do kind of wish there were a couple of real models up there who could’ve really KILLED the stage and WORN THE SH*T out of the dresses, but hey, it’s for charity! As for that stage, it was quite slippery. So slippery in fact that there were a couple of, um, mishaps:
Yikes! Those falls were NOT cute. Mind you, Carmen was fairly graceful. She fell right on her butt with her legs closed. Alison Sweeney was next in line, so she came out to help her girl up, and she went down immediately! I don’t know what was on that floor, but the girls had been slipping from the very beginning. This was the defining moment for the rest of the show because everyone in line came out holding their Stuart Weitzman shoes. I would’ve preferred that there had been a five minute intermission to buff the slickness out of the runway, but I guess that wasn’t an option. The barefoot look knocked the chic nature of the clothes down a few notches, but all in all, I think the designs are going to make good money for Clothes Off Our Backs.
